You have officially tied the knot…what comes next? Your wedding reception!!
The wedding reception is one of the most fun parts of your wedding. You get to dance, eat, talk, and celebrate with your friends and family. In the weeks and months leading up to the big day, you’ve planned out every little detail, and your guests are sure to have an amazing time. Now, all that’s left to do is to make sure you enjoy it, too!
We’ve already given you five pieces of advice to make sure your ceremony goes smoothly. Now, to ensure your reception is as fun and stress-free as possible, Philip Gabriel Photography has included five more tips on how to enjoy your wedding day from beginning to end.
1. Keep Everyone Dancing
There is no better way to keep the energy of your reception up, than getting people on the dance floor all night long! We find more and more couples – and music professionals – are encouraging their guests to dance in between courses, rather than waiting until everyone has finished eating. This allows people to spend more time up dancing to the killer band or DJ you booked, and less time seated.
2. Remember To Eat
In all the excitement of the wedding day, we find that most couples forget to eat throughout the day. After planning each detail of your cocktail hour and reception menu, you don’t want to miss out on all the delicious food you picked out! Many of our couples opt to spend a few minutes of their cocktail hour in a wedding suite or other room on-site at the reception. This allows for time not only to eat, but to take a few private moments alone with your new husband or wife.
3. Plan Ahead for Specific Photos During the Reception
Along with all of the wonderful photos of first dances, parent dances, speeches, cake cutting, and dancing, many of our couples also ask for specific group photos or portraits around their reception venue. To minimize time spent away from your guests, we advise planning ahead for these photos so we can get you back on the dance floor as quickly as possible. The Philip Gabriel team will help you plan out those details in your photography timeline, and ensure each moment is captured!
4. Thank Your Guests
Be sure to thank all the amazing friends and family who came out to celebrate your special day with you. Whether you are able to take time during your wedding reception to visit each table, or you address all of your guests together in a quick speech, it is such a thoughtful touch.
5. Be Yourselves, and Take it All In
Enjoy each and every moment of your reception, and do it your way! Play the songs you love, eat the food you crave, and take in all in as you celebrate love with your new husband or wife!
