How to Choose Your Signature Drinks

Choosing a signature drink can sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. If you and your fiance love a specific drink, that is a great place to start. Adding an additional flavor, color, or herb to make it unique is one way to take your favorite drink to the next level.

You really don’t even have to get too creative with recipes, you could always just redesign the name! Add in your new last name or think about some of your favorite things to do together as a couple to create a new spin on your favorites. Classic drinks are always a good choice because everyone knows and loves them- they’re classics for a reason!

If you are having a summer wedding, adding a splash of tropical fruit juice or a fresh herb is one way to take a regular drink to the next level. And if you are having a winter wedding, adding a warm spice or warm drink is a delightful way to warm up your guests.

If you need help deciding on your signature drinks, talk to your bartender. Many bartenders, like TopShelfTipsy, have an extensive list of signature drink recipes readily available for you to choose from if you don’t know where to start. Once you choose, you have the flexibility to name the drinks something fun. Your wedding professionals are always here to help.

Our Favorite Signature Drinks:

It was hard to choose just a few, but we wanted to highlight some Philadelphia Weddings team favorites that you can put a twist on.

Mojito

Another refreshing summer favorite is the classic mojito. This traditional Cuban highball starts with a small handful of freshly muddled mint leaves and half of a squeezed lime. Next add two tablespoons of white sugar, 1.5 ounces of white rum, .5 cups of club soda, and ice.

Mojitos are delicious with added fruit and herbs like passionfruit, raspberries, or basil.

Tequila Sunrise

Tequila sunrise is a bright and fruity drink that is sure to delight your guests. All you need is 2 fluid ounces of tequila, 4 ounces of orange juice, and .25 ounces of grenadine. Garnish with an orange slice, cherry, and ice. Perfect for watching the sun go down during a sunset reception and getting the night started!

Moscow Mule

This gingery, limey, refreshing vodka drink is perfect for an outdoor summer wedding and one of TopShelfTipsy’s favorites! Moscow mules are simple and you can easily spice them up. Typically served in a copper mug, this delicious concoction calls for 1.5 fluid ounces of vodka, .5 fluid ounces of lime juice, .5 cups ginger beer, ice cubes, and a lime for garnish.

Try adding cucumber for a fresh twist, or cherries if you want an extra pop of flavor.

Mulled wine

Mulled wine is a great way to warm up during a chilly winter wedding. You’ll need wine, mulling spices, sugar, cinnamon, and fresh oranges. Similar to sangria, you can also add in your favorite liqueurs to spice things up a bit. You’ll want to simmer this one for at least 15 minutes and serve it warm.

Try adding some muddled berries for a rich, tart addition to your mulled wine!

Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate is great for kids and adults! Try hot chocolate alongside your coffee bar and have your bartender prepared with Bailey’s Irish Cream to spike the hot chocolate for adults. This one is perfect for dessert and a drink!

Hot Toddy

Hot Toddies are another great choice for cooler wedding dates to warm up your guests. This one is light and refreshing but will still be great to hold in chilly hands. Hot Toddies are made with .75 cups of water, 1.5 fluid ounces of whiskey, 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice, and 2-3 teaspoons of honey. Simmer and serve with a cinnamon stick and lemon round garnish. Yum!
